3WP — Essence, Livid, Serenity

You evoke the essence

Of a lime —

All green with freshness

And juicy youth.

I pretend to be

A clementine —

Oh-my-darling tangy sweetness

As my “proof.”

But we are both

Lemons —

Citrus with a waxy shine,

Livid with our truths.

While we argue

That our lots aren't fair,

We cleave to

The Serenity Prayer.
